Warm Wishes

Here in the US we are celebrating Thanksgiving day November 22. It is a time when we get together with family and share the things we are thankful for in our lives.

Of course I am thankful for my family and my good friends. Their support and encouragement led me to where I am today.

I am also thankful for the many people who read my blog. The information is for you, so I really appreciate knowing that it is useful to you, enough for you to take some time out of your day to read it. You give me the gift of your attention, and for that, I am most thankful.

Paul Lemberg: Be Unreasonable

admin | Uncategorized | Sunday, August 26th, 2007

Before I left on my recent vacation, I sent a note to my readers about a book I’m reading by Paul Lemberg called “Be Unreasonable”. I have been reading it - slowly because I really was on vacation and was very lazy!

Well, reading it slowly is a good idea. This book is packed full of a lot of thought-provoking ideas. Things like:

  • question conventional wisdom
  • think of your exit strategy
  • think bigger
  • take complete responsibility
  • don’t think so much - take action
  • demand accountability

There is A LOT more in this little book, along with some really nice examples of unreasonableness and how people used it to grow successful businesses.

You can get your own copy, and some really nice gifts, here:
Be Unreasonable

I’m off to read some more and put his ideas into action!

One Hour Project

admin | Uncategorized | Friday, July 27th, 2007

Do you maintain your own website? How much time do you spend learning how to do things like creating a squeeze page and connecting it to your autoresponder? Or adding a product to your shopping cart and connecting that to a Buy It Now button on your sales page? Do you have to relearn the process every time you want to do it again?

I recently did a trial release of a product I call the “One Hour Project”, and the response was great. People are very excited about this product. So I am making this available to the public.

How does it work?

You and I schedule an hour together to accomplish a specific task, such as creating a squeeze page to your autoresponder. Using GoToMeeting, I coach you through doing the work yourself, explaining options you have, and why you would do things one way or another. I record that session, and when we are finished with the hour, I make a video of the recording and send it to you.

This way, you get your project completed efficiently, you learn how to do it because you are doing the work yourself, and you have a video to review later if you need to do the same task again but do not quite remember how.

The great thing about this process is we are using your tools - your autoresponder, your shopping cart, your web host. You see how to do the task in your environment, not someone else’s.

Keeping Your Brain Active and Healthy

admin | Uncategorized | Thursday, July 26th, 2007

I like to take a class every so often to learn new things and keep my brain active. July 9-15 I took a class for business owners to learn ways to improve my business. It was listed as an “intensive” and it really was! I worked at least as hard during that 7 days as I have in the past working on a software project near deadline (Sleep? Who needs sleep!). Jason was definitely feeling neglected!

The work from that class spilled over into the following week, so I’m really just now getting caught up with all the things I neglected during the class. It was quite worthwhile though. I learned a lot of really valuable things, and everything was recorded so I can go back and listen again any time I want.

Especially for those of us reaching middle age, continuing to learn and stretch our brains is extremely important to keep our brains healthy in our twilight years. If you haven’t read it yet, check out the book by Cathryn Jakobson Ramin called “Carved in Sand: When Attention Fails and Memory Fades in Midlife”. She is a journalist who researched all the current thinking about memory failure at midlife and beyond, and what you can do about it.

Exercise, take classes, play Sudoku - you aren’t goofing off, you are keeping your brain healthy!

Best -
